Is All PR Good PR?

The head of Royal Mail and leaders of the Communications Workers’ Union (CWU) were locked in talks today to reach agreement over pay, conditions and modernisation.

If the two sides cannot thrash out an agreement, postal workers are planning three further days of strikes, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, after two days of industrial action last week.

Google Goes Online Advertising

The ‘Gone Google’ campaign will run in six countries and focuses on the 1.7m businesses that use Google services.

The push aims to help the company win market share from Microsoft.

The UK campaign will include print activity, outdoor billboards and digital locations in train stations including Paddington and Liverpool Street.

The US search engine giant built its global business using little advertising.

Dave Armstrong, head of marketing for Google Enterprise for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: ‘It is the first and very highly visible integrated ad campaign that we have run.’

Online Advertising Spend has now Overtaken TV

As a result, online advertising spend has now overtaken TV. It grew 4.6% to £1.75bn in the first half of this year, according to the Internet Advertising Bureau, despite the overall advertising market shrinking 16.6%. The web’s market share, meanwhile, rose from 19.2% to 23.5%.

Marge joins a list of stars who have posed for the magazine since its first edition in 1953, who include supermodel Cindy Crawford, Baywatch actress Pamela Anderson and screen siren Marilyn Monroe.
